I was able to do it, here's how. saved in a Pokemon center. exported the save from my emulator. renamed the expoeted .sav to the same name of the new ROM. moved it into my emulator's save file folder. opened the v3.0 ROM in my emulator and imported the ...I mean do you save the game in the game options or the emulator options. had to mess with VBA's emulator settings to find the root of the problem. so if you need to change the save type to "128k", go to Options > Emulator > Save Type > 128k (no need to change it from Automatic either).
