Actress, singer Sheryl Lee Ralph born

Actress, singer Sheryl Lee Ralph born in Waterbury, Connecticut of Jamaican heritage. She is best known for her work in Broadway productions such as Dreamgirls and for her part in the 1980's sitcoms "It's a Living" and "Designing Women".

She has also appeared in several films including "The Mighty Quinn", "The Distinguished Gentleman" and "Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit".

Ralph founded the Jamerican Film Festival.
