Sharon Pratt Dixon (now Kelly) born in Washington, D.C..

She was the elected mayor of Washington, D.C. from January 2, 1991 – January 2, 1995 making her the first for a woman of any race to do so and the first African-American woman to serve as mayor of a major American city.
