Singer Ralph Tavares born in New Bedford, Massachusetts of Cape Verde descent. He is best known as the lead vocalist the group Tavares composed of himself and his four brothers.

They are best known for their hit singles "It Only Takes a Minute", "Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel" and "More Than A Woman".
