Comedienne Moms Mabley born

Known as "The Funniest Woman in the World" Loretta Mary Aiken better known as Moms Mabley was born in Brevard, North Carolina. Mabley was one of the most successful entertainers of the black vaudeville stage also known as the Chitlin' Circuit. At the peak of her career she earned $10,000 performing at Harlem's Apollo Theater.
