Marshall "Major" Taylor, the fastest bicycle rider in the world (1898 - 1904) born in Indiana. He set seven world records in 1899. Taylor won the world one-mile track cycling championship in 1899, 1900, and 1901 beoming the second black world champion in any sport, after boxer George Dixon.
