Jesse B. Blayton, Sr. was born December 6, 1897 in Fallis, Oklahoma. Blayton made radio history in 1940 by purchasing WERD in Atlanta and became the first African-American to own and operate a radio station in America.
He was also Georgia’s first African-American Certified Public Accountant six years later.
