First African American woman licensed female architect in the US

First African American female architect Norma Merrick Sklarek, the first African American woman architect to be licensed in the U.S. with certification in the State of New York in 1954 and then California in 1962. In 1985 she became the first African American woman to form her own firm Siegel, Sklarek and Diamond.
